The Basketball Spotlight Tournament Series was amazing this year. It’s now time for us to release our end of the season awards. We would like to thank everyone for their participation and we look forward to seeing you guys next season. Our next stop will be the 6th Grade level.

2018 6th Grade Postseason Awards Winners

Team Of The Year: NY Gauchos- The Choz won the Tip Off Classic and Clash For The Cup. They also made it to the final four at the AC Showcase. They were the team to beat all year and that’s why they are the “Team Of The Year”.
Player Of The Year: Dwayne Pierce (NY Gauchos)- The do it all guard played his part while helping the NY Gauchos win two championships. His impact on the game cannot be denied. He operates and generates the Choz fast paced offense.
Most Outstanding Player: Jaylen Mayo (JCBC)- Mayo was a problem all year for the first-year program. Once he got the rock in the paint it was usually a bucket or a trip to the charity stripe. He really flexed his muscles during the MDC while taking home the Mr. Memorial Day Trophy.
Coach Of The Year: Qua Roberson (Jersey City Boys Club)- Roberson got the nod after leading this first year program to the Memorial Day Classic Championship and also making an appearance in the and a final four appearance at the Clash For The Cup.
Most Dominant Performance Of The Year: Ahmad Nowell (Fidonce)- Nowell’s play in the AC Showcase was fantastic. According to our scouts he was like a baby Lebron James out there. He carried this Philly squad to the AC Showcase crown.
Prospect Of The Year: Donovan Freeman (JCBC)- This kid seems to get better each time of the floor. Now he’s beginning to show his perimeter game in terms of ball handling, making plays and shooting. If he continues on this track things could get scary. He was also the Best Defender we saw this year.
Playmaker Of The Year: Nas Simmons (NY Gauchos)- Simmons used his wiggle to get things done for the Choz. He could score at will and get teammates involved. He helped the NY Gauchos win the Tip Off Classic and Clash For The Cup.
Shooter Of The Year: Umar Sabree (Fidonce)- Sabree is a sniper from deep. He let it fly from anywhere on the floor and scorched several teams on the Spotlight circuit. He truly has a ratchet.
Surprise Player Of The Year: Naim Parrish (NJ Shore Shots)- This kid was a joy to watch. I loved his swagger and playmaking ability. The game seemed to come so easy for this Jersey Shore product. We look forward to seeing him next season.
Best Scorer Of The Year: Mike Jones Jr. (FCP Elite)- Deuce went bonkers at the MDC, scoring over 20 points every games. He has no problem putting his team on his back and leading them the victory. He scores with ease and in bunches.
Best Versatility Of The Year: Basil Laster (Fidonce)- This kid is probably the next best prospect after Freeman. The big guard is a problem on both ends because of his length and skill set. He was a immediate impact player for the Philly Boys.
Best Floor General Of The Year: Nigel James (New Heights)- James showed off his ball handling at the AC Showcase. He’s extremely hard to guard when he’s in attack mode. He controlled the flow and lead them to a championship game appearance.
