Basketball Spotlight 6th Grade Post Season Awards
Team Of The Year: New Heights NYC
After winning the AAU National Championship few can argue with these guys winning this award. They clicked at the perfect time of the season. Congrats to New Heights for winning the championship and making history.
Player Of The Year: Christian Bliss (Riverside Hawks)
Bliss got the nod after quarterbacking the Hawks to two Spotlight Championships and being the most consistent player on the circuit. He controls the tempo of the game and understand when to pick his spots.
Most Outstanding Player: Jaiden Williams (New Heights)
The versatile wing showed he was tough to handle all season. He’s a true matchup nightmare especially when he handling the rock on the wing and attacking the cup. He was a joy to watch this year.
Coach Of The Year: Kenny Satterfield (New Heights)
Satterfield used his passion to guide his troops to a AAU National Championship. He pushed the right buttons at the right time to make things happen.
Best Newcomer Of The Year: Christian Kirkland (B&B Running Rebels) Kirkland made his presence felt during the two Spotlight tournaments. He has a serious wing span and gets things done on both sides of the floor. Don’t sleep on this kid because he could be a problem.
Best Prospect: DJ Wagner (New Heights)
Yes, the genes are obvious but Wagner gets it done himself on the floor. The explosive guard grew a few inches entering the season and used it to his advantage on the floor. It’s going to be a lot of fun watching him in years to come.
Best Playmaker: Sebastian Robinson (Team IZOD)
Robinson held down his name this season. The smooth guard led Team IZOD to the Tip Off Classic Championship. He also proved to be tough to defend when he had the rock because of his size and skill set.
Best Scorer: Caleb Crawford (Riverside Hawks)
Crawford has proven that he could get buckets against anybody in the country. Once he gets going he’s determined to find the hole. He looks his best in transition while beating a single defender to the cup. He seems to be born to score.
Best Floor General: Jayden Reid (Gauchos/New Heights)
Reid danced his way through defenses all year. It’s extremely difficult to keep him out the lane. He started the year with The Choz before switching over to New Heights and helping them bring home the crown.
Best Defender: Korbyn Samuels (East Coast Elite)
His versatility stood out on the defensive end. Samuels has good length and used it to play the passing lanes and guard defend smaller guards on the perimeter. He brought tremendous energy and loved to lock up.
