AJ Hoggard (Team Final)
The 8th Grade Division of the Clash For The Cup was stacked with some of the top players in the region. Here’s Part 2 of our top performers from the event.
Clash For The Cup 8th Grade Top Performers Part 2
A.J. Hoggard Guard (Team Final) – A.J. led his team to the semifinal where they lost to eventual runner up Baltimore United Team Thrill. Hoggard is a big PG with a long wing span. He gets in the paint at will and either kicks the pill out to a shooter or drops it down to a big. Has a nice pull up and when his 3 ball is on he is pretty much unstoppable. Next in his maturation process will be a commitment to locking up on Defense.
Lance Ware Forward (Team Final) – Ware passes the look test. He is a long wiry forward that can move very well. As he continues to develop and grow he should become a big time prospect for Team Final. He was the second leading scorer behind Hoggard in their semifinal loss.
Ishmael Leggett Guard (Team Takeover) – High motor guard combo guard, finishes well in transition, can knock down mid-range jump shot, has good range to 3pt line, rebounds well for position, locks up on defense
Chuck Harris Guard (Team Takeover) – Big combo guard, looks to score at all three levels, has good range past 3pt line, always in attack mode, good FT shooter.
C.J. Robinson Guard (Gauchos) – This strong bodied point guard can get anywhere he wants on the floor. C.J. lives in the lane and constantly puts pressure on the defense. Most guards do not have the strength and quickness at this level to do what he does. Robinson must improve his decision making at times but you can’t teach what this kid has.
Josiah Freeman Forward (Team Takeover) – Small forward that can play the two guard, pure scorer that is looking for his shot and stays in attack mode whether shooting the 3 ball, mid-range pull up or finishing in transition
R.J. Davis Guard (Gauchos) – The other half of the alphabet duo R.J. is the scoring guard that plays beside C.J. He is a very familiar face on the circuit. He is an elite scorer that can score from all three levels but his strength is his 3pt shooting ability. He wasn’t on like he usually is but we saw flashes. Next in his maturation process will be his ability to transition to the lead guard as that is where he will end up playing at the next level.
