Xavier Pina (WE R 1)
Xavier Pina has made a name for himself during this Spotlight season. He’s a natural scorer with a sweet stroke which he showed when he went for 33 points during the AC Showcase. His skills and play earned him an invite to the Basketball Spotlight Future Phenom Camp. His father Stephen feels that going to the Future Phenom Camp, “The camp gives Xavier an opportunity to learn from great teachers and counselors. Further, giving Xavier a platform to play on and against the top players in the country is why we do it. As a parent, we have different methods of teaching. I chose sports as a teaching method. Being a student athlete will teach Xavier dedication, responsibility, time management, how to win and lose and how to handle each with grace and humility. This has been a special year for X and it started with his first write up on Basketball Spotlight. We, as a family are excited to see Xavier play in the Future Phenom Camp” said Stephen.
Stephen is not the only person that’s excited for Xavier making the trip to Maryland. His coach Kevin Murray also thinks it’s a good look for Pina. “Xavier has really come into his own this year. I always knew what he could do but to see him on the Bballspotlight circuit playing with confidence and passion makes my job worth it. X is a good player but a great kid. He works hard and wants to get better. Having X attend the Future Phenom Camp is a testament to his hard work and the love he has for the game and his team” he finished. Stay tuned as Basketball Spotlight brings you more top players headed to District Heights, Maryland for the Future Phenom Camp August 23rd and 24th.
