Jalen Carey Headed To John Lucas Camp
Hello, my name is Jalen Carey from New Rens. I will be attending John Lucas camp this weekend in Houston,TX. I am looking forward to the competition, experience, and most importantly having fun on and off the court. This is a privilege to be invited to one of the top camps in the world and I appreciate every bit of it. This shows me that my hard work is being noticed. This camp will allow me to showcase my talents in front of the top player in the country, in front of coaches, and scouts.
Now lets talk about the adversity and struggles my parents and I went through to get to this camp. Friday was a crazy day. I was suppose to leave for Houston Friday night right after my basketball practice on Jet Blue Airlines. There were mis-communications with my flight. So my parents had to do a lot of work over night to get me another flight. They were determined to get me out to Houston because this can be a once in a lifetime opportunity. With the grace of God I was able get another plane flight at 8:20 Saturday morning. I was so glad that I was able to get another flight because I would have been angry and disappointed if I didn't go.
Saturday I woke up at 6:30 and I was so excited to be going to this camp. My dad took me to the airport and I went through the process of getting my bags checked and stuff like that before boarding the plane. I was a little nervous because it was my first time getting on the plane by myself. Me and my dad said our prayers to god before I left to get on the plane. I am focused and determined to destroy my opponents. This is Jalen Carey and I will be keeping you posted about my camp experiences, feelings, and my progress this weekend!
