Basketball Spotlight 6th Grade 3rd Quarter Report
Team To Beat:
Team IZOD TI hasn’t lost convincingly enough to be knocked from the throne. I think when they are clicking on all cylinders they are still the best team in the region.
Surprise Team: Team Nelson
I knew TN would get it together but I didn’t think it would be this quick. They have put themselves in a great position to repeat as Grand Finale champions.
Darkhorse: ETU Select
A finals appearance at the AC Showcase and a PV regional title shows this group is capable of crashing the Grand Finale party. We will see how things shape up after the MDC.
Player Of The Year Leading Candidates: AJ Hoggard (Team IZOD) & Mikeal Jones (Team Nelson)
I think Hoggard has emerged as they key component to IZOD’s championship success. His play making ability against strong defenders is what separates him for his peers. Jones is the best 6th Grade prospect in the region and if he turns it on and carries Team Nelson to another Grand Finale crown the trophy could be his.
Coach Of The Year Leading Candidate: AJ Gaffney (Team IZOD)
Gaffney had the most pressure while forming this squad and he has proven to get the job done most of the time. He has learned how to handle egos and still get the best out of his players.
