Diary Of A Baller: Nate "The Great" Pierre (Plainfield, NJ) Entry #2

Nate Sleeping ON NC Trip

Hello basketball world! I hope you guys enjoyed your Christmas. I know I did. I am going to start from Monday Christmas Eve.

Monday was Christmas Eve. My family did not know that we were coming down to North Carolina. We had fun the entire ride down making my grandmother think we couldn't make it this Christmas. The entire family would be there but not us. When we arrived it was fun yelling "surprise”! Everyone was so happy. My grandmother and great-grandmother was crying in joy. It was cool. I love seeing my family. I got a lot of gifts and had great food. I enjoyed my Christmas Eve.

From The Director's Desk Feat: Ed Bright (Team IZOD/Sports U)

Team IZOD/Sports University has developed some of the top grammar school programs in the region. Their 6th Grade and 7th Grade squads are currently ranked #1 in the region while their 8th Graders seem to be coming along strong. We decided to reach out to Program Director Ed Bright to get some insight on their movement.

From The Director’s Desk

BS: What is the mission of Team IZOD/Sports U?
EB:Mike sports, education and politics are the three most dominant and pervasive social forces that shape our society and influence the quality and character of American culture. At Team IZOD we realize that the love of sports is so deeply embedded in our national consciousness that the values of millions of people — participants and spectators — are directly and dramatically affected by the values conveyed in sports. This places a significant social responsibility on our mentors and coaches at Team IZOD who influence our basketball players to assure that athletic competition helps build character and ethics and gives each of our student athletes a clear understanding of what their social contract is to their families, schools and communities.

Nick Alikakos Playing Above The Rim

Team Final’s Nick Alikakos shows off his leaping ability during his middle school game. We were definitely impressed with the dunk off the lob pass. Keep up the good work Nick.

Basketball Spotlight 8th Grade 1st Quarter Report

Money Team Leads The Pack

The 8th Grade Division of the Spotlight circuit has to be one of the best in America. It really doesn’t get any better than this. Here’s our 1st Quarter report.

8th Grade 1st Quarter Report

Team To Beat: CBC
The “Money Team” proved they are the best by winning the Tip Off Classic and Funsport Jr. Pros. They have been collecting trophies all year now they will be looking to win that Grand Finale banner to hang in their gym.

Surprise Team: Playaz Basketball Club
No one knew what to expect from PBC but they showed it should be another good year by making it to the final four of the Tip Off Classic and championship of the Friars Classic. Now they must keep the momentum going.

M.I.A. Team: Team Scan
We thought TS would make their Spotlight debut at the Tip Off Classic. We really wanted to get a look at Mr. Waters and company. Hopefully we will see them soon.

Darkhorse: Team Final
TF got off to a tough start at the Tip Off Classic but something tells me they will still find their to their way to the Grand Finale. They are the defending champs and never count out the heart of a champion.

Player Of The Year Leader: Jermaine Samuels (CBC)
“The Terminator” lit up the Tip Off Classic and is a viable candidate but Samuels has been consistent this early season and doesn’t seem to show signs of slowing up. Winning is a component in our Player Of The Year equation so Samuels definitely has the leg up right now.

Basketball Spotlight 7th Grade 1st Quarter Report

Supreme Team Appears To Be The Squad

The 7th Grade Division of the Spotlight circuit is total fire. It’s filled from top to bottom with top teams and talent. Here’s our 1st Quarter report.

7th Grade 1st Quarter Report

Team To Beat: Team IZOD
During the Tip Off Classic the “Supreme Team” proved they could handle the pressure and expectations. Now they are in the driver’s seat towards the Grand Finale but beware because many teams will be trying to knock them off course.

Surprise Team: Playtime Panthers
Their final four run at the Tip Off Classic proves this squad is a real title contender. They have improved in the backcourt and added some size. They remain a dangerous team and should be a lock for the Grand Finale.

M.I.A. Team: DC Assault
Everyone is wondering what the National Champs are bringing to the table. Word is they won’t be in action until March, if so they will have some catching up to do to get back into the zone of other squads.

Darkhorse: Wall 2 Wall
Something tells me this is not a team anyone would want to draw at the Grand Finale. Hopefully their recent success doesn’t slowdown their hunger as the underdog. Keep that Clubber Lane swagger going!

Player Of The Year Leader: Javon Quinerly (Team IZOD)
Quinerly rocked the Tip Off Classic while leading Team IZOD to the crown. The combo guard confidence is through the roof and he seems unstoppable when trying to get into the lane. In transition he was a total monster. Hopefully he can keep this good play going.

Basketball Spotlight 6th Grade 1st Quarter Report

Team IZOD Is Currently The Team To Beat

The 6th Grade Division of the Spotlight circuit is turning into one of the most exciting. These youngsters have been getting busy heavy on the floor. Here is our 1st Quarter Report.

6th Grade 1st Quarter Report

Team To Beat: Team IZOD
Team IZOD squad has jump out as the team to beat. They ran through the Tip Off Classic in impressive fashion. They seem to have all the pieces to make a successful run to the Grand Finale crown and AAU National Championship. They are currently on a mission.

Surprise Team: Team First
Team First made a championship run in their Spotlight debut. They knocked off some pretty good teams in the process. Now they must be able to stay afloat as the circuit only gets stronger.

M.I.A. Team: Team Nelson
TN won’t be making their Spotlight debut until the MLK Classic. They are the defending Grand Finale champs so they should be ready to go. We will be taking a good look at this bunch.

Darkhorse: ETU Select
The PV group made a final four run at the Tip Off Classic but will be looking to make the championship run at the Clash. They had a good showing before running into that juggernaut named Team IZOD.

Player Of The Year Leader: AJ Hoggard (Team IZOD)
The POY of the Year race is very close so far but my scout tells me the Hoggard all around play makes him the leading candidate. Formerly known as “Mc Buckets” Hoggard has put away the scoring moniker to become the ultimate floor general. This unselfish nature will give this squad the best chance to win.

St. Anthony Classic: St. Michaels Outlast Playaz

St. Michaels/Team IZOD Wins Friars Classic

St. Michaels/Team IZOD won a hard fought battle against the Playaz 47-43 to win the St. Anthony Grammar School tournament. Patrick Stralza had 20 points (Tourney MVP) and Chris Dejean added 14 markers in the win. Tristan Patterson also had a good tournament in his Playaz debut making the All Tournament Team. Congrats to St. Michaels/Team IZOD in their victory.

Spotlight Alum Fair Making His Mark!

Basketball Spotlight Alum Keandre Fair got off to a tremendous start on the varsity level. In a recent loss to Northwest Catholic, Fair registered 34 points while nailing 7 treys. He is currently averaging 22 points a game in three varsity contest as a freshman at Weaver High School. “Breeze” starred on the Spotlight circuit for CBC for years. Congrats to Fair but remember you are just getting started keep working hard.

Diary Of A Baller: Nate "The Great" Pierre Louis (Plainfield, NJ) Entry #1

Nate At Barclay Center Getting Ready

Hello basketball world my name is Nate Pierre-Louis and this is my very first journal entry and I'm very excited to be a part of the Diary Of A Baller on Bballspotlight.

This week was a very tough week. I am going to start from Sunday. Sunday was a great day but tough at the same time. We played the quarter-finals and the semi-finals in the same day. First we beat New Heights. It was a really fun game. Then we played PYO (Philadelphia Youth Organization). That was a really tough game, very physical but fun game. We pulled it out at the end. We beat them to go to the Barclays Center in Brooklyn New York on Sunday. It was a great birthday gift.

Tim Dog Showcase Recap: Capital City Heat Grabs Crown

Capital City Heat Takes Title.

The Tim Dog Showcase Championship took place at West Ward Recreation Center and Basketball Spotlight was in the building. In the finals Capital City Heat defeated Larry Richardson All Stars 37-30 to win the championship. Here are the players that impressed us in our hometown.
Top Performers

Rodrique Massenat Forward (CCH)- Massenat arrived at tip off but once he checked in he got right to action. He plays the big man role but his guard skills spill from his veins. I like his aggression and his tools from the backcourt spot. He led the team in scoring with 24 markers but his handle and court vision told the story. His cousin Franz Massaenat is “The Man” for Drexel University and it seems to be another bloodline member on the way.

Jordan Livingston Guard (CCH)- Livingston played like a polished 7th Grader during this event. He lets the game come to him while punishing the defense with breakaway layups and silky smooth pull ups. He’s one we definitely need to keep our eye on.
Chris Jackson Guard (CCH)- The true floor general would rather dish the rock then be a selfish scorer. He understands his limits and looked to get the ball to the finishers on his squad. Every team needs a quarterback and he handles the job well.
Quentin Beyah Guard (CCH)- This baby of the bunch is a 5th Grader and when he got chance he showed some potential. He’s not strong enough to impact the game on this level but I can tell he will be a problem down the road. Keep working hard youngster.
Ricky Bailey (LR All Stars)- Bailey was a total workhorse on the floor. He had a game high 20 points for the losing team but led them back to make the game respectable. He has a high motor and a nose for the ball that is natural. He’s only a 7th Grader so he has time to work on his skill set. Ricky finished the season as the league leading scorer.
Zahrion Blue (LR All Stars)- Blue has good size and can finish off some plays. I like his tough from the perimeter and he comes from a good basketball background. Now he needs to work on his ball handling and ability to make plays. He has more growing to do so his story is far from being done.
Barbara Blue (LR All Stars)- Zahrion sister is only a 6th Grader and she got busy with the boys. She understands the game and has a soft touch. At times she was over powered because of her gender but she will be a real problem on the girl level in the future. I expect TCA and other schools to be recruiting her hard soon.

Dunk Of The Week: Allonzo Trier Catches A Body

Class 2015 Allonzo Trier appeared on our site on numerous occasions. Now they youngster is a high flyer. Check him out as the defender tries to take a charge. Wow.

Introducing Julian Newman: 5th Grade Varsity Basketball Prodigy

Julian Newman

Julian Newman, a 4'5" 5th grade hoops prodigy out of Downey Christian School in Orlando, Florida, has been tearing apart varsity opponents that are 6 and 7 years older than him. He leads the state of Florida in assists at 11.5 a game and is 19th in the nation in that category.

Recently, he scored 14 points, dished 8 assists and had 3 steals against Agape Christian which is one of the top private schools in the Orlando area. Two months ago, he scored 91 points in only 3 quarters of a middle school game which led to his move to varsity.

Funsport Jr. Pros Championship Preview: Is Brooklyn Ready For The Money Team?

CBC Will Face Upset Minded LD Rebels

CBC aka “The Money Team” made a Funsport Championship by beating the Canarsie Blue Devils and New Rens. They will face the LD Rebels at the Barclay Center on Sunday. Coach Reggie Hatchett as always thinks his boys will be ready. “Funsport is a very prestigious league and we are just happy to be a part of it. The LD Rebels have two of the best 8th Graders in the country (Nate and Losini) along with a great coach so we anticipate a dog fight at the Barclay’s Center. My guys are prepared and will compete in every possession. We didn’t join Funsport to compete, we came to win it all and add this great accomplishment to our basketball resume” he finished.

Ricky Rivers director of Funsport chimed in on CBC chances of winning; “CBC has a chance to win because they are supposed to. The top team in the Northeast is not supposed to lose to a team only together three weeks. It falls on the shoulders of Jaecee Martin who is arguably the best 8th Grade point guard in America. He has yet to take his game to another gear this season but I hear the Nate Pierre Louis brings out the beast in him” said Rivers.

Basketball Spotlight would like to congratulate CBC for making it to the finals and also congratulate Rickey Rivers and his Funsport Staff for a successful season.

Funsport Jr. Pros Championship Preview: LD Rebels Looking To Shock The World In Brooklyn

LD Rebels Headed To Barclay Center

The LD Rebels knocked off New Heights and PYO to make it to the Funsport Jr. Pros Championship vs. CBC at the Barclay Center in Brooklyn, NY. Lloyd Daniels the Coach of the LD Rebels is very happy to make the appearance, “Many people felt with only had a two man team but we showed today that all our players were capable of. Now we have a chance to get to the Barclay Center and play against a great team in CBC” Daniels said.

Funsport Jr. Pros director Rickey Rivers gave his input on LD Rebels chances of winning the championship. “LD Rebels has a chance to win because of the leadership of Nate Pierre Louis. He refuses to lose when he laces them up. The moment is big and his motor is high. The key is his partner Losini Kamara. If he steps out in these bright lights CBC is in trouble” he finished.

Basketball Spotlight would like to congratulate LD Rebels for making it to the finals and also congratulate Rickey Rivers and his Funsport Staff for a successful season.

Spotlight Alums (2016) Shine Over First Weekend

NyRhique Smith (Monmouth Regional)

The high school season kicked off this weekend and a few Basketball Spotlight Alums from the Class of 2016 got busy. Here’s a look at trio of frosh that got busy on the varsity level in New Jersey.

NyRhique Smith (Monmouth Regional)- Monmouth Regional didn’t win a game last season but Smith has gotten them off to a great start after a 26 pt., 6 rebs, and 4 assist performance in their 72-55 win over St. John Vianney. “La Smoove” knocked down 3 treys in victory.

Bryce Aiken (Pope John XXIII): Aiken put on show at the Hoop Group Tip Off Classic. “Capo” drilled in 24 points, and handed out 7 dimes while taking home MVP honors in his team’s loss to Roselle Catholic. Aiken’s stock is on the rise.
Tyus Battle (Gil St. Benards)- Battle had a good all around performance with 14 points and 14 caroms in his team’s loss to the Patrick School. The Hoop Group awarded Battle as his team’s MVP for the game. “Kid Mamba” should have some exciting moments this year.

Diary Of A Baller: Lucas Hudson (Center Valley, PA) Final Entry

Lucas Driving Through The Lane!

Hello basketball world! This week was crazy. So let’s get to it.

On Monday and Thursday morning before school I started my day at Obe’s gym. Like always it was a great workout and I will continue to go to him to improve my strength. At his point the main thing that I have to improve in my game is my strength, and I will strive to get stronger. I’m not sure if I mentioned it or not but my mom works out with me! Sometimes she can’t keep up, but she does the best she can. I’m really proud of her because the workouts are very hard!

Basketball Spotlight Feature: Zion "The Lion" Harmon Has Arrived!

Zion Harmon (Team Glory)

During the Tip Off Classic Team Glory reached the finals of both the 4th and 5th Grade divisions. Some of their success can be attributed to point guard Zion Harmon. Many people consider Harmon as the best 4th Grade player in America. Last season he led his team to the 3rd Grade AAU National title. Harmon game is advanced for his age and his coach Douglas Dormu agrees, “Zion’s basketball IQ is very high. He has great mental and physical strength that he uses well on the floor. He even shows great poise playing against 7th and 8th Graders. He has a unique ability to read defenses and make smart decisions quickly” he finished.

Dormu saw Harmon’s Basketball IQ develop right before his eyes, “When I saw Zion cutting the nets after winning the AAU Championship it took me back to when he was five years old. He would come to my practice with the Team Glory older team and just sit there and study the game. He would always beg his father for a chance to play on a team and win championships” said Dormu. As much success as Harmon has had Dormu makes him understand that his basketball road is just getting started. “Zion needs to work on his communication skills especially with teammates. He also needs to work on his midrange spacing. I think if he continues to work hard and keep his head straight he should win several more championships” he finished.

Basketball Spotlight will be keeping our eye in Harmon for the next few years. Should be some exciting times.

Spotlight Alum Giles Posterizes Defender In High School Debut

When we gave Harry Giles “The Stamp” and listed him as the #1 player in the country few other sites agreed with our assessment. But after he destroyed the USA trials people started jumping on the bandwagon. Now check out this vicious dunk over this kid. Can’t believe Giles is only 14 years old. Scary!

Basketball Spotlight Feature: Introducing Zahree Harrison AKA Boy Wonder

Zahree Harrison (Team Phenom)

Paul Gripper has coached some top guards in his time including former Villanova star and current Philadelphia 76er Malik Wayns. Now Gripper returns with his latest backcourt stud by the name of Zahree Harrison AKA Boy Wonder. Harrison runs the show for Team Phenom 5th Grade squad that has won several tournaments and made it to the final four of the Tip Off Classic. Harrison also impressed with his play at John Lucas Camp back in September.

Gripper feels that Boy Wonder has the tools to be next in a long list of top guards coming out of Philly. “I think he’s smaller version of Malik Wayns but with a better outside shot at this age. He needs to increase his on the ball defense and speed when pushing the rock. If he continues to develop his athleticism he has a chance to be one of the better ones down the road” said Gripper. Basketball Spotlight will be keeping an eye on Boy Wonder as he will join his squad at the Basketball Spotlight Clash For The Cup. Stay tuned as we bring you more top young talent on the horizon.

Damon Harge Getting Busy!

Damon Harge has been a name to know on the camp circuit for years. The North Carolina product is currently playing high school basketball as a 7th Grader. Check out some of his highlights from this past summer.

The Basketball Spotlight Top 10 8th Grade teams are listed below. Please remember these rankings are just our opinion and should be taken as such.

Basketball Spotlight 8th Grade Top 10 Presented By AGame Team Apparel

1. CBC: While others talked the “Money Team” came to the Tip Off and took home the title. They survived a hard fought championship game versus Team Takeover. We will probably see them again at the AC Showcase.

2. Team Takeover: TT did damage during the Tip Off Classic before eventually losing in the finals to CBC. They came to play and knocked off some impressive teams in route to their championship loss.

3. Playaz: PBC moves up after making a final four trip during the Tip Off Classic. They have one of the best scoring guards in the region and he gives them a chance to win any game.

4. New Heights: NH made a big jump after making it to the final four of a Tip Off Classic. They have star studded roster but work very well together.

5. DC Assault: DCA got tripped up in pool play by New Heights but we feel they will be looking to make a push at the Clash. They got some great pieces so they will be big return in Feb.

6. Team Final: TF had a less than expected weekend. They took pool play losses to PYO and Playaz moved them down a few spaces.

7. St. Michaels: SM aka Team IZOD showed some good signs at the Tip Off Classic. I think they will make a strong run during the Clash.

8. CIA Bounce: The Bounce took a tough loss to Team Takeover. So they have said they will not leave the Clash without the Cup.

9. Expressions: The X went 1-2 but they did have a tough pool. We expect them to have a better showing at the Clash.

10. Jersey City Boys Club: JCBC has the hunger to make some noise. They are in the Top 10 but can they stay there?

Basketball Spotlight 7th Grade Top 10: Presented By AGame Team Apparel

Basketball Spotlight 7th Grade Top 10 Presented By AGame Team Apparel

2. DC Assault: DCA hasn't got underway yet because of school ball. Hopefully we will get a look them at a tournament in the near future.

3. Wall 2 Wall: A trip to the Tip Off Classic finals makes this squad look legit. They have a good chance of taking home the MLK crown before heading into the heated Clash.

4. Playtime: PP looked impressive at the Tip Off Classic with a final four appearance. They have an improved squad and should be a force to reckon with this year.

5. CIA Bounce: Bounce had a final four run which ended with a classic battle with Team IZOD. CB will be looking for some revenge at the Clash For The Cup.

6. Metro Sixers: MS made a good run at the Tip Off Classic. They lost a tough battle to CIA Bounce and will be looking to rebound at the Clash.

8. Mass Shooting Stars: The undermanned MSS took a tough hit the Tip Off Classic. They are anxious to get back in action at the Clash and prove they are among the best.

9. ECE: East Coast Elite had tough treading at the Tip Off Classic. They were missing some bodies so we will give them another chance to prove themselves at the Clash.

10. 6th Man Warriors: The Warriors made their debut and left with some impressive wins. They will be back at it during the Clash.

Basketball Spotlight 6th Grade Top 10: Presented By AGame Team Apparel

3. ETU Select: The Potomac Valley crew made a final four run at the Tip Off Classic and will be returning for the Clash For The Cup. I still think this is a dangerous squad.

4. Metro Flyers: Metro Flyers made their Spotlight debut and made it to the championship. It was a great opening appearance for this bunch.

5. Diamonds In A Rough: DEMI made a semifinal run their first time out. Hopefully we get to see them again soon.

8. CIA Bounce: The Boys from Canada got their first taste of the Spotlight and made it to the quarterfinals. They vow to have a better showing at the Clash.

2. Team Glory: TG made their Spotlight debut and got all the way to the finals. I don’t think it will be long before they are snapping a picture in front of the banner.

3. RIP City: We haven’t checked them out yet this season but they were so dominant last year that we had to give them some praise. Hopefully we will get them in the fire soon.

4. Team Phenom: Gripper’s young cubs have been ripping it up during the preseason and made it to the final four of the Tip Off Classic. Next on deck for them will be the Clash For The Cup.

5. CJ Hawks: Last season the Hawks represented well this year seems to be no let up as they made a final four run at the Tip Off Classic. They will take another shot at it during the Clash For The Cup.

6. DC Assault: DCA also proved to have a good 4th Grade squad last year. Hopefully we can get a glimpse of what they are working with this time around.

7. Team Takeover (Gorham): TT didn’t have their best showing at the Tip Off Classic but with former Coach Of The Year Ryan Gorham at controls its only a matter of time before they get things together.

8. On Point Cyclones: OPC brought made some strides at the Tip Off Classic they are a feisty bunch and can’t be taken lightly.

9. Team Takeover: The other Takeover squad had a tough time in their Spotlight debut. Hopefully they can rebound next time around.

Inside The Tip Off Classic 6th Grade: Team IZOD Flawless In Debut!

Team IZOD Tip Off Champs

Team IZOD Ready To Go!
Team IZOD 6th Grade came to the Tip Off Classic with a statement to make. They proved their point by mercy ruling each opponent until the finals where they won by double digits. This squad has brought together some of the top 6th Graders in the region and seem to be on a mission to win the Grand Finale crown and AAU National title.

Team Nelson Waiting In The Wing!
The reigning Grand Finale Champs Team Nelson missed the Tip Off Classic because of football commitments but they are ready to make their debut at the Clash. Many including myself would love to see them tangle with Team IZOD. Maybe will get this see this showdown very soon!

Inside The Tip Off Classic 7th Grade: The Supreme Life Begins

Team IZOD Wins 1st Title As Supreme Team

Supreme Team Gets Taste Of Success
Team IZOD aka “Supreme Team” got a taste of life when a target his on your back. They were pushed to the limit a few (ECE and Wall 2 Wall) before pulling out the wins. Now moving forward they must understand that teams are motivated to beat them every time they step on the floor. I guess it’s not all fun and games when you at the top.

Wall Closing In?
Last season I got a phone from the director of Wall 2 Wall claiming they were the new program to watch. I challenged them by putting them in the Blue Division during the AC Showcase. W2W responded with that championship. Next they went to the MDC and made it to the finals. Now they made a return trip to the championship of the Tip Off Classic. It seems to be only a matter of time that they will be holding a banner.

Inside The Tip Off Classic 8th Grade: "Money Team" In Drivers Seat

CBC Strikes First Blow

CBC Off And Rolling!
The “Money Team” felt like they have unfinished business after losing the Grand Finale title last season. So they started off this season with a vengeance. They ran through the Tip Off Classic while defeating a tough Team Takeover squad in the finals. Now they must continue on their successful quest if they want to bring home the title.

One and Done!
After the Tip Off Classic Tristan Patterson of CBC and Trevon Duval of Team Final both decided to leave their programs and jump over to Team IZOD. Apparently Team IZOD has now stretched out into Delaware and both players want to join their former coach.

Diary Of A Baller: Lucas Hudson (Center Valley, PA) Entry #11

Lucas and Henry Fairfax (Haverford School)

Hello basketball world. I’m back to tell you guys about my week.

On Monday and Tuesday I had a lot of studying to do and I had no practices. So the first two days of the week were pretty much a break for me, with a few ball handling workouts.

On Wednesday I shadowed at The Haverford School. I really had a great time learning more about this school and the education they provide there is fantastic. After the school day, I watched Haverford play their first game of the season against The Shipley School. It was cool to see two of the schools that have a lot of interest in me play against each other. Both teams played pretty well. And I was able to get to know how each coach runs their team. My Mom jokingly told the coaches that whoever wins the game would be my choice of school. I wish it were that easy. Trying to decide where to attend high school next year is really hard. There are so many good schools and the coaches I have met are fantastic. My family and I will continue to pray as to where I should go next year.

In The Spotlight: Mike Burnett (New Heights)

Name: Mike Burnett

AAU Team: New Heights

Position: Wing Guard

Class: 2017

Breakdown: Burnett who also missed the photo shoot has been one of the most underrated players in the region for years. Maybe it’s because his game is way more substance than flair. The big guard brought out the best this weekend as he helped New Heights reach the final four. He’s no longer underground now he’s on full blast.

In The Spotlight: Hayes Kelcher (New Heights)

Name: Hayes Kelcher

AAU Team: New Heights NYC

Position: Forward

Class: 2017

Breakdown: Missing the photo shoot was the only reason Kelcher wasn’t in the Top Performer write up. The forward was spectacular this weekend while leading New Heights into the final four. He averaged double figure points and rebounds and had his best game against pool favorite DC Assault. He punished the Potomac Valley squad over 20 points. They had no answer for him.

B3 Sports Entertainment Presents: The Supreme Life!

Team IZOD aka The “Supreme Team” has been the talk of the town since they formed up. Many people had questions about this union. Can it last? Are there enough basketballs? Can the parents handle it? Can they win the National title? Now B3 Sports Entertainment will give you a chance to see inside this group and follow them on their journey in their no holds barred reality webisode entitled “The Supreme Life”. Stay Tuned.

Tip Off Classic 6th Grade Top Performers: Part 3

Jahmir Young (ETU Select)

The Tip Off Classic 6th Grade Division took place at Georgian Court University but Basketball Spotlight scout Randy D. Smith was in the building. Here’s his final report from the 6th Grade level.

Tip Off Classic 6th Grade Top Performers Part 3

Jahmir Young Guard (ETU Select)- Excellent on or off the ball, this young dynamic point guard has everything it takes to get the job done. It will be no time before he becomes a house hold name.

Carlo Joyner Forward (Brooklyn Kings)- Joyner was a rebound machine this weekend. He’s far physically superior than the opponents he faced. He carved out room in the paint and gobbled up rebounds like Pac Man ate power pellets. Reminds me of a young Reggie Evans that can finish around the rim.

Khalid Mayo Guard (Brooklyn Kings)- Mayo is what each team needs. He can be a point guard, scoring guard or a rebounder. He’s like the perfect condiment on any sandwich. Just add the mayo and it makes everything better.

Posh Alexander Guard (Brooklyn Kings)- The classic NYC point guard can dribble through NYC traffic with the president in town. He’s fearless going to the cup with the upper body strength to finish over bigger defenders.

Bryce Wills Guard (Riverside Hawks)- Wills as the wingspan of someone that is about 6’5 and scores from anywhere on the floor. On defense he lived in the passing lanes. Once this kids body catches up with his BBIQ it’s going to be lights out.

Joel Brown Guard (CIA Bounce)-Brown is dynamic with the ball in his hands. This versatile guard can get it done from both guard positions. He possesses good court vision and an outside shot to compliment. When you think of Canadian basketball Steve Nash usually comes to mind but Joel Brown might be the name of the future.

Tah Jai Watters Guard (CIA Bounce)- Watters is a fast paced guard who pushes the tempo as well as his team. He motivates his teammates with his hard play. He’s a fearless penetrator that can get himself going or make life easier for his teammates.

Tip Off Classic 6th Grade Top Performers: Part 2 (By Randy D. Smith)

Tyler Brelsford (ETU Select)

6th Grade Top Performers Part 2 The Tip Off Classic 6th Grade Division took place at Georgian Court University but Basketball Spotlight scout Randy D. Smith was in the building. Here’s his second report from the 6th Grade level.

Tip Off Classic 6th Grade Top Performers

Tyler Brelsford Guard (ETU Select)- Brelsford is a crafty point guard with lightning quick speed and a ball handle that gets him anywhere on the floor. He does an excellent job of penetrating the lane and finding open teammates.

John Wilson Guard (Team First)- Wilson is made in the mode of traditional NYC point guards. He possesses terrific ball handling with a lot of flare and flash but his substance is what really stands out. He could run my team any day.

Eddie Davis Guard (New Heights)- Davis is an excellent on ball defender. The steady point guard gives the team a calming demeanor once he is in the game. He’s very coachable and able to adjust to the game easily.

RJ Weise Guard (MJ Mavericks)- This floor general is like the coach on the floor. He has a mature approach to the game, soft outside shot and ability to get to the rim. I see some good things in his future.

Joe Baloachino Guard (MJ Mavericks)- Joe has a pure ratchet from the perimeter. He plays both guard spots well and should round out to be a pretty good high school player.

Tay Allen Guard (6th Man Warriors)- Allen is a versatile player who can play a multitude of positions. He has great body control and can absorb contact before he finishes at the rim. His excellent handle allows him to get into the lane and use his midrange floater.

Jalen Echevarris Guard (DEMI)- Jalen is the inspirational leader for this squad. The gritty guard is an extension of the coach on the floor. He keeps his squad focused while running the team.

Tip Off Classic Top Performers: Part 1 (By Randy D. Smith)

Jalen Gaffney (Team IZOD)

The Tip Off Classic 6th Grade Division took place at Georgian Court University but Basketball Spotlight scout Randy D. Smith was in the building. Here’s his report from the 6th Grade level.

6th Grade Top Performers Part 1

Jalen Gaffney Guard (Team IZOD)- Smooth is what I call this kid whether he is playing on or off the ball. Young Mr. Gaffney is polished at getting his teammates involved or taking matters into his own hands. He’s a very heady player with a tremendous basketball IQ.

Khalif Battle Guard (CJ Hawks)- What can I say about Mr. Battle that hasn’t already been said about his older brother. To sum it up one word “Natural”. He’s a natural scorer, natural ball handler, natural leader and natural winner. I see this kid manning a high school state championship team in the future.

AJ Hoggard Guard (Team IZOD)- True point guard in every sense of the word. He can run any offense the coach wants. He makes the game look very easy. His feel for the game is a long way above his age group.
Antoine Bryan Forward (CJ Hawks)- He’s a versatile, long, rangy kid who can do all from about three positions. Once his body fills out this kid will score the rock from anywhere on the court and defend four positions.

Jordan McKoy Guard (Team IZOD)- “The Real” McKoy was the leading scorer in the championship game and proved once again to be one of the smoothest players on this grade level in the country. We expect him to blossom with this group.
Alex Klatsky Guard (CJ Hawks)- Good floor leader with a coaches kid basketball IQ. He’s very vocal on the court and gets teammates in best position to execute on every possession.

Chris Autino Forward (CJ Hawks)- Chris has good hands around the basket with the power and touch to finish over smaller defenders. He has a very good set shot in the mode of a young Tyler Zeller. Great feel for the game.
