Clash For The Cup Recap: 12U Top Performers

The 12U Division had some good play down at Georgian Court University. Here’s a look at some of the top performers from this past weekend.

Atiba Taylor Guard (KSK)- Taylor helped his group reach the promise land by playing his two best games during the final four. First he hurt ECE for 17 points in the semifinals and also had a big championship game. The southpaw is playing at a high level and has to be mentioned in Player Of The Year conversation.

Daniel Klosk Guard (New Rens)- Klosk found the hot hand again at a Spotlight event. He nailed 9 treys during the entire tourney including 5 during their semifinal loss to Team IZOD. It’s no question that he’s the best shooter in this age group.


Mikey Watkins Guard (Team IZOD)- Watkins capped off a solid weekend by leading his team back from a 20 point semifinal deficit against New Rens. The floor general turned into a scorer while dropping 15 points in their come from behind win.

Donovan Toatley Guard (Team Takeover)- The dazzling point guard showed why he can be considered one of the top guards in America. He broke down defenders easily and launched treys from NBA 3 point range. He’s an exciting player to watch and always gives the crowd a treat.


Zedrek Farrell Guard (Riverside Hawks)- His team had an uncharacteristic bad outing but Farrell showed well including a 28 point outburst in their final game versus New Rens. He has done a good job adding some scoring punch to his game. He’s been hot since returning from injury.

Brandon Slater Guard (Team Takeover)- The former Mr. Memorial Day poured in buckets from the perimeter. His big game was 18 points against Playtime during their pool play loss. This kid can really stroke it. He nailed 7 treys during the tournament.


Jamal Whittlesey Forward (East Coast Elite)- Big Jamal found his groove against Team Takeover. He scored a game high 30 points but came up on the short end of the stick. His name will also be mentioned in Player Of The Year talk.

Trevor Forbes Guard (CBC)- Forbes went crazy in their last game of the event. He scored 29 points and was unconscious from the perimeter. This kid gets buckets in a hurry.


Markquis Nowell Guard (Team IZOD)- Nowell managed to score 15 points a contest. He wasn't on fire like he was at the Tip Off Classic but he still scored in bunches and managed to help them reach the finals. He can catch fire at any time in the game.
