Will The Combined Squad Make DC Assault A National Title Contender?
The basketball season has arrived and Basketball Spotlight will kick things off with our season previews. We decided to do breakdown each AAU district by age or area and give you an inside look to some of the teams. Here’s look at the DMV (DC, Maryland, Virginia) 13U Division. We understand that these teams don’t play in the same AAU district but as we see more teams from this area our previews will expand next season. (Remember some things can change because no rosters are set.)
Team To Beat: DC Assault
The combined squad has to be the favored to win several events in this area. They have guards for days and the rumor mill have them picking up a big man from Slam and Jam. I can’t wait to see this crew at the Spotlight events and I will be traveling to the DC Assault Classic once again.
Dark Horse: Annadale Bulldogs
Now with only one DC Assault squad the Bulldogs should move up the later. They are a well coached bunch with a talented scorer in Randall Gaskins. We will keep an eye on this bunch.
Preseason Player Of The Year: Alani “Showtime” Moore
The cat is now out the bag. Moore is known nationally as one of the top floor generals. Now with more weapons at his disposal expect the wins to pile up. “Showtime” has a serious resume and steps up every time things get real.
Comeback Season: Everett Winchester (Sam Cassell All Stars)
Nagging injuries caused Everett to miss several events last season. This year we hope to see him return to form and show his full arsenal. We will definitely be checking him out throughout the season. Keep you posted!
