Can The Elite Cavaliers Win Another National Title?
The Big Show is about to go down in Hampton, Virginia. Some of the top teams in the country will be in the building. Basketball Spotlight will be reporting daily and giving you exclusive coverage. We will be starting out our coverage with in depth previews. They are so many teams that we will split them up regionally. Here’s a look at the top teams traveling down from the Midwest.
12U Preview Part 1 (Midwest)
Elite Cavaliers: The Reigning National Champions have a huge target on their back. They won the Ohio State Championship and have to be considered one of the favorites to win it all in Hampton. They have a tough pool game against South Carolina Ravens. I won’t miss that one. Check out Caleb Tregre.
Cincinnati Lakers: The Lakers have the talent to make a huge run in Hampton. I was impressed when I saw them in Ohio but that was some time ago. Ashon “Lotta Game” Riggins is a name to know. They have a showdown with F.A.C.E.S. on the first day.
Ohio Warriors Basketball: Nick Ward leads the way for this bunch. This squad has some toughness and could make things interesting at the Boo Williams Complex. Teams need not sleep on this bunch because you could leave with a loss.
Ohio Prep Hoyas: Anthony Dockery is one of the hardest workers in the business. The power forward should have the Hoyas in the thick of things for a while. Their guard play will have to step up for them to make a real run.
D-1 Greyhounds: This squad has some good sets and plays good passion. Kentre Grier can really go. We will keep a strong eye on this group and see if OJ Mayo’s old squad can bring it home.
Detroit Showtime: Gary Collins is one of the top guards with this crew. I like their Motor City toughness and they might surprise a few teams in Hampton. You know you have to pack your lunch when playing them.
