Tri State Invitational Day 1 Top Performers: 12U/13U Division

Antwan Peace (Delaware Finest Stars)

The 12U and 13U Division was combined but had some good games. Here are some of the top players that did damage in Dover, Delaware.

Day 1 Top Performers

Antwan Peace Guard (Del Finest Stars)- Peace is the main man for this squad and picked up his play after a slow start. He enjoys going strong right and has nice size for a combo guard. He has good change of direction and gathers himself quickly before arriving at the tin.

Jawan Watson Forward (Del Finest Stars)- Watson is a big load on the glass but has good touch down low and from the charity stripe. Instead of leaping over other post players he uses his frame to box them out and finds his way to the rock. He made some key plays in their victory.

Gabe Brown Guard (Del Finest Stars)- Brown had an okay game until the final 4 seconds when he received an inbounds pass a trey ball to give his team a one point win. Those are the moments we dream about and he had a chance to live it out.

Jay Lathem Guard (Positive Force)- The Nick Van Exel type plays the game with great confidence. The southpaw has a right hand floater he relies on a lot but also can hurt you with his court vision. Towards the end of the game he ran out of energy on the defensive end. That’s something he needs to improve.

Derrick Jones Forward (Positive Force)- On this level he plays a Lamar Odom type game. The lanky forward handles enough to get the rim but he lacks the strength to totally dominate the game. He did a lot of damage but will be even better once he adds a little strength.

Shalique Uyliss Forward (Long Island Lightning)- Uyliss fits into the same mode as Jones. Right now it was hard for the wiry wing to finish because of his lack of strength but just give him some time. I like how he sets up defenders for his crossover and the confidence he has in his outside shot.

Cameron Winston Guard (Long Island Lightning)- Winston is slowly moving to the perimeter. He made a couple of good decisions with the rock and still knows how to get money on the post. His aggressiveness keeps him on the charity stripe.

Nehemiah Boone Guard (Long Island Lightning)- Boone specializes in carrying defenders to the rack. Today he got busy a couple of plays when LIL made their little comeback.

Tyler Blake Forward (ABA Cobras)- Blake has a game similar to Malik Rose. He extremely strong and hits the glass like a mad man. On defense he kept his hands high and clogged up the lane. Offensively he finished off plays and scored a few baskets in transition.

Ryan Doan Guard (ABA Cobras)- Doan found his stroke from the perimeter and helped break the LIL press by passing the rock ahead. His court smartness over shadowed his lack of athleticism.
