Diary Of A Baller: Jalen "Young One" Henriquez (New Jersey) Entry #16

Hello Basketball World,

It’s been a minute since I’ve checked in. Lately my Gym Ratz team has been working hard in the gym to get in shape and get everyone on the same page for this season. We have been practicing about 3 or 4 times a week. Yesterday we had our first scrimmage against the Rockland Rockets, it was a good game but we have to improve our defense and shot selection. I played well; I had 13 points, 5 assists and a couple of boards. We also have a few new kids who are still adapting to our game. Being that it was a scrimmage our Coach did not play the starters the whole game because he wanted to get my new teammates into the game. Shout out to Tyler, Derek and Jordan being 3 new additions to our team. We ended up winning the game by 3. Next weekend will be the start of our 2010 season. We will start off at a Hoop Group tournament down in Neptune. I would also like to thank every coach, parent or friend that gives advice on choosing a high school. In all, I have to choose the school that’s best for me as a student first athlete second. In the following weeks to come I will announce what school I will attend. Last night I also recorded “The Street Stops Here” which is a movie about the legendary coach Bob Hurley and the sacrifices he makes for his athletes. I can’t wait till next weekend to begin our season until then; I will be just non-stop working on my game to get better.
