During his 12U season Brandon Austin showed tremendous promise playing for Team Kobe. The lanky forward showed the ability to handle the pill and score the rock. But Austin saved his best showing for the Hoop Group Jr. Elite Camp last August. Running the point in the highest division in the camp, the then rising 7th Grader dazzled the crowd while breaking down defenders and dishing the rock to teammates. Onlookers marveled at his skills and crowded the court each time he performed. No one could forget his head to head matchup with Jaylen Beckham, despite being younger Austin did more than hold his own. He left the camp as the number 1 prospect in the Class of 2014.
