Jake Dadika (CJ Jammers)
Hoop Group Headquarters held its Spring Showdown II and Basketball Spotlight was in the building. There was so much talent we decided to break it down into a few sections. First we will take a look at the point guards that caught our attention.
Top Point Guards
Jake Dadika (CJ Jammers)- I saw Jake face one of the top defenses in the country and he didn’t back down. He calmly ran the show and even drained some big time treys and the Jammers made a late run against Team Scan. I love his poise on the floor and how he didn’t get caught in trapping situations which avoided turnovers. His game is maturing right in front of my eyes.
Shavar Newkirk (Team Scan)- I don’ t know if I said this once before but Newkirk reminds me of former NYC point guard Kenny Satterfeld. Like Satterfield, Shavar has the point guard instincts and makes good decisions but you can also see his scoring side when he finishes at the cup after crossing up a defender. Newkirk also has a presence on the other side of the ball while hustling hard and causing turnovers off the press
Tarin Smith (NJ Shore Shots)- Smith always represents himself well on the hardwood and today was no exception. The smooth guard is very unselfish and has shown great improvement on his jump shot especially from the midrange area. Keep a close eye on this kid as he makes strides.
Al-Jahaad Bradford (Playaz Basketball Club)- Bradford was an instant sparkplug off the bench. His low center of gravity, quickness and crafty moves make it extremely difficult for anyone to stop him. Al-Jahaad immediately changes the pace of the game once he enters.
Isiah Briscoe (Playaz Basketball Club)- Briscoe seems to have gotten a little quicker and made some good decisions with the rock in his hands. I like his pass first mentality and it should take him far in this game.
