12U National Preview
New York
NYC Gauchos:
The Gauchos are coming off several championships including the Playaz Blow Up. They have some of the top guards in the region and have added some muscle on the blocks. Malachai Richardson is one of the best shooters in the country and has put together a terrific season. There added frontcourt help might make them a favorite to win the National title.
Long Island Trotters:
High scoring Thomas Holley should bring his game like he did at the MDC. The Trotters are slowly making a serious name for themselves on the scene a good showing down at the Nationals will only bolster this effort.
Westchester Hawks:
It will be interesting to check out the Hawks. Several of their players that I saw during the Super Regional appeared with the Gauchos at the Blow Up. Therefore I really can’t give you a prediction about them until I see their lineup
Riverside Hawks:
I heard this squad is supposed to be very good but this will be my first time watching them play. I’m pretty anxious to check them out.
New Jersey
King Street Kings:
The NJ State Champs placed runner up in several big tournaments including the MDC and Game Over Classic. They have solid guard play decent bigs and good coaching. All eyes will be on their first day match up against team Kobe from Philly.
NJ Pirates:
The Newark boys are hungry for some big time wins. Super combo guard Nassir Barrino has returned from the Playaz to take the trip down Interstate 13 and represent. One thing is certain the Brick City squad will leave everything on the floor.
Middle Atlantic Region
Delaware Hawks:
One of the top teams in the region will be heading down to increase on their number 5ranking from last year. Awesome twosome of Austin Tilghman and Wamere Murphy should make a immediate impact in Virginia. We will see!
Youth Interlock:
Jameer Nelson’s bunch also has two guns in Shet Gardner and Mahir Johnson. They played well in their region and made it to the final four at the MDC. That Chester toughness will be needed for them to advance deep in this tournament.
Team Kobe:
Brandon Austin and company showed some flashes throughout the year. The City of Brotherly Love crew will have to be ready to attack from the opening tip as they will face off against King Street Kings their first game.
