Inside The MDC: 13 and Under Part 2 (We Got Game!)

Donovan Johnson Got To The Cup A Lot At The MDC!

The 13 and Under Division also gave us a chance to check out some of the top 7th Graders in the region or maybe the country. Here’s a breakdown of the ballers we saw and how they performed.

13 and Under Top Performers

Nate King Guard (Trenton Hurricanes)- It was another good tourney showing for King. Even when the Hurricanes haven’t performed well Nate still manages to post big numbers. The MDC was no different as the stocky southpaw put together some excellent games leading them to the crown.

Charles Cooke Guard (Trenton Hurricanes)- Cooke brought that emotional spark that helped the Canes reach the promise land. As long as he knows not to go too far with his demeanor then he will be okay.

Joe Feinberg Guard (Trenton Hurricanes)- Feinberg outside shooting open things for King to drive. He could be streaky at times but during the MDC he made the defense pay.

Dalique Mingo Guard (NY Panthers)- Mingo was big contributor in the Panthers march to the title game. He showed up big in the semifinal against the Lightning with some big buckets and numerous trips to the charity stripe.

Jason Boswell Forward (LI Lightning)- Boswell make some big plays during the MDC. His long lanky body should have recruiters drooling very soon. This kid really doesn’t know how good he could be which, is a good thing right now.

Donovan Johnson Guard (LI Lightning)- This was my first peak at Johnson and I must say he is an impressive scorer from the point guard spot. He gets into the lane every quickly and has the body control to finish in traffic.

Dave Henry Forward (LI Lightning)- “The Kangaroo” had the opposition worried on both ends of the floor. He blocked shots, finished around the rim and ran the floor like a deer. His emotions did cost his attendance in one game which is something he will have to work on for the future.

Nyie Johnson Forward (Playaz)- Johnson went to work against the Shooting Stars posting a game high 20 points with dominant play inside. He is definitely a big time work horse inside for this squad.

Kavon Stewart Guard (Playaz)- The slick southpaw also had some good showings during the MDC. He one of the top guards in the region and has the swagger to match.

Matthew Johnson Guard (Playaz)- The solid point ran the show and looked flawless at times. His demeanor on the floor and fill for the game is something you can’t teach.

Darius Robinson Guard (Educated Athletes)- Things looked easy for Robinson during their blow out game against New Heights. The strong guard just knows how to play the game and score when called upon.

Dean Wilson Guard (Delaware Hawks)- Wilson came to play during the MDC. In the 3 overtime loss to the Linden Ballers Wilson made some big plays to keep the game close. Keep an eye on him.

Jaquan Matthews Guard (Linden Ballers)- Matthews play against Delaware Hawks came up big dropping some good numbers that propelled them to the victory. He finished with 24 points.

Mychal Corbitt Guard (Linden Ballers)- Corbitt also made some good contributions to the Ballers quest in this thriller. He’s a scoring guard that’s slowly making the transition to the point.
