Inside The MDC: 11 and Under Part 2 (Fresh Faces)
Elijah McNeely-Davy Is Worth The Price Of Admissions!
The MDC gave Basketball Spotlight a chance to see some of the new upcoming talent. In Part 2 we will take a look at some of the top players that had their coming out party at the MDC. We also will give you a Best of the MDC section.
Fresh Faces
Elijah McNeely – Davy Guard (Hollis Biddies)- Elijah definitely caught our attention during the pool games as he dominated defenders with slick ball handling and the ability to score. He gave the crowd a treat with his ankle breaking dribbles and smooth court demeanor. I had received numerous emails prior to the MDC and have to say he is good as advertised.
Josh Wallace Guard (Hollis Biddies)- Wallace is a guard but isn’t afraid to get busy inside while boarding or scoring. He showed his worth in the semifinals against KSK as he carried the squad with 19 points and almost won the game at the buzzer.
Stevie Jordan Guard (Philly Aztecs)- Jordan pushes the rock well up the floor. He can either score or get teammates involved with some nice passes. Jordan can also stroke it occasionally from deep.
Cheyenne Nettleton Guard (LI Lightning)- Nettleton came in with a lot of hype after being crowned the #1 guard at the New England Jr. Phenom Camp. He held up his end of the bargain with some good play that helped his squad knock off some good teams during pool play.
Trevaughn Wilkerson Forward (Harvest Knights)- This kid was and intimidating force once he walked in the gym. Standing 6’4 he caused all kinds of problems on the both ends of the floor. Coaches had to alter their game plans because of his presence. Playing wise he’s a developing post player with a lot of promise.
Jahmil Harris Guard (Philly Aztecs)- Harris also runs some point guard for the Philly squad. The stocky guard loves to pass the rock and sees the floor like a true general. When his team needs a bucket he also knows how to find the hole.
Jimmy Pazini Guard (JSL)- Pazini shot the ball well from the perimeter for JSL. As the season progressed you could see his confidence building.
Best Of MDC 11 and Under
Best Game: This was a tough one but we selected: Harvest Knights vs. LI Lightning and King Street Kings vs. Hollis Biddies in the semifinals. Both games were barn burners.
Best Surprise: Hollis Biddies, I heard they were good but I never imagined they would win the pool featuring The NYC Gauchos and Team MVP from Jersey. Now there on my map!
Best Performance: Malik Ellison 28 point outing in the finals against KSK. In the biggest games he showed that he was a true elite guard.
Best Shooter: Bryce Aiken, this kid probably could shoot in the gym if the lights were turned off. He has a wet jumper.
Best Showmen: Jaquan McKennon (Gauchos) and Elijah McNeely-Davy (Hollis Biddies)- Both players showed way NY is considered the Mecca of point guards.
